You won’t be seeing may TBR posts from me; as though I have a HUGE TBR pile, I like to choose what I’m going to read at random. However, I do have a very specific list of books that I would like to get through before Christmas. So here goes, take inspiration from this of what you could read this Christmas holidays, or in the New Year…
Maze Runner- I have already started this little number, it being something that I have had recommended to me on several occasions. I must admit that so far, I’m regretting putting it on my TBR before Christmas as I am really struggling to get into it. I feel that it is going from one event to another and never allowing you to understand and get to know the characters- almost as if a child has written it. Sorry if anyone really likes this serious, but I must say I do not recommend!
The virgin Queens daughter- I have been waiting for SO long to get hold of a copy of this book as I love the sound of it- typically it is Tudor era fiction. I’ve now got it from the library and cannot wait to get into it.
Dracula- This is a bit of an odd one for me, but it is this months book for my book club, so going to bite the bullet and give it a go. I definitely do have a desire to get into reading classics, but not sure this was exactly what I meant. I know the basic story as well, so not sure if that will take away from the writing. Guess we will wait and see.
Elijah’s Mermaid- I will be writing about this in my December Buy, but just briefly- this was gifted to me by my parents after passing my theory test, and I am really really looking forward to it. It is an more modern era to the historical fiction than I’m used to but I love the sound of it. I’m strange in that I enjoy protagonists from poorer backgrounds, whether than be gladiators, or servants, all that theme- so an orphan fits in nicely with than. Has any one read this? What did you think?
Spartacus- Finally I am still on a HUGE book hang over from the last Ben Kane book, and the rate I’m going I think only another will be able to bring me out of it. I chose this one purely because it was the first one that I bought, plus looked a little smaller than Hannibal, making it more likely I’ll manage my challenge.
So that is 5 books to read in 23 days! Not completely confident that I will manage it, but I’ve set myself the challenge so I will be trying my best to achieve it. If you have read any of these, or any other book you recommend please leave a comment letting me know what you thought?
